Besides presentation of progress reports by Pakistan and Afghanistan chapters of PAJCCI, the board meeting would also take up the issue of amendments in the Pakistan Afghanistan Transit Trade Agreement, on which both sides have been working for sometime. In order to make the agreement more effective and workable both sides have worked hard in drawing up suggestions which would be forwarded to respective governments for approval.
Muhammad Zubair Motiwala, Sindh Chief Minister's advisor who heads the Pakistan PAJCCI, along with following board members from Quetta and Karachi would leave for Islamabad on December 31. Daroo Khan Achakzai, and Haji Hameedullah, and Niaz Muhammad from Quetta and Jawaid Bilwani, Junaid Esmail Makda, Abdul Qayyum Khalil, and Talat Mahmood from Karachi.
PAJCCI appears to be more active than Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI), apex trade body of the country which holds the mandate of promotion of trade and industry and other economic activities, not only within the country but also promoting bilateral economic relations with foreign countries.
PAJCCI has also arranged for a dinner meeting with ambassadors based in Islamabad to discuss possibility of forming joint alliance with trade bodies in their respective countries. A draft has also been drawn for holding economic co-operation conference.The future strategy of PAJCCI focuses on: trade survey, joint chambers/alliances/induction of other chambers, approval of targets and deadlines for 2nd year-event calendar, extension to current office bearer and strategy for future term, development of a trade directory, development of trading house, display center and special committees, problems presented during the term and related discussions, and devise strategy for further interaction with respective governments.
